1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small files a website saves on your device to remember information between visits. Local storage is a similar technology, serving the same purpose but managed directly by the browser: some content on this page uses it to remember your choices.
2. Cookies and technologies used on this site
2.1 Technical storage of consent
The site uses the browser's local storage, not a cookie, to remember whether you accepted or rejected third-party content, so you are not asked again on every page. It is not shared with anyone: it stays in your browser.

2.2 Usage statistics (always active, no consent required)
The site uses Umami, a statistics tool running on our own server (analytics.claudiosaitta.it), to count page views in aggregate form. Measured repeatedly, including after interacting with the page: Umami does not install any cookie and writes nothing to your device. For this reason it runs without asking for consent, as provided by the Italian Data Protection Authority's Guidelines on cookies of 10 June 2021 for tools that do not allow individual users to be identified.
2.3 Facebook widget (only after consent)
The home page embeds, via an iframe, the museum's Facebook page. Until you accept, the iframe stays blocked and is not loaded. Measured after accepting and interacting with the box (scrolling, hovering): the Facebook iframe does not install any cookie in this configuration. The domains www.facebook.com, static.xx.fbcdn.net and scontent.xx.fbcdn.net are still contacted, and your browser transmits your IP address and other technical request data to them; this data is processed by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited under its privacy policy.
2.4 Google Maps (only after consent)
The Contacts page embeds, via an iframe, a Google Maps map. Until you accept, the iframe stays blocked and is not loaded. Measured after accepting and interacting with the map (scrolling, hovering): the Google Maps iframe does not install any cookie in this configuration. The domains maps.google.com, www.google.com, maps.gstatic.com, maps.googleapis.com, places.googleapis.com, fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com are still contacted, and your browser transmits your IP address and other technical request data to them; this data is processed by Google Ireland Limited under its privacy policy.
3. Managing consent
On your first visit a banner asks you to accept or reject the third-party content described in points 2.3 and 2.4. You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Manage consent" in the footer of any page on the site.

You can delete the cookies and browsing data stored by your browser at any time, or configure it to refuse them, from the browser's own privacy settings. Instructions are available in the Help section of the browser you use. Note that disabling local storage means the site cannot remember your consent choice, and the banner may reappear on every visit.
